 Maitake mushroom, also known as Grifola frondosa, is a type of edible mushroom that grows in North America and Asia. It is a polypore mushroom, meaning it has many small holes or pores on the underside of its cap. Maitake has a unique, fan- or feather-like shape, with large, overlapping caps that can grow up to several pounds in weight. Its cap is typically brown or gray and its stem is short or absent.
