Grow your own edible and nutrient dense parasol mushrooms with liquid culture
Amerilepiota procera, or the parasol mushroom can be found worldwide, growing
in most temperate climates. Named after its appearance, it is a tall mushroom
with a brown, parasol shaped cap. Edible parasol mushrooms have a whitish
spore print whereas the poisonous type of parasol mushroom have a green
spore print. It is nutrient dense containing Copper, zinc, rubidium, selenium,
chromium and cobalt.
To grow, Amerilepiota prefers the edges of lawns, near tree lines and will
decompose grass or hardwood. It can be grown using a sawdust substrate with a
fruiting temperature of between 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a delicious
nutty and earthy taste and can be fried or dried!
