Each culture plate is a 100x15mm petri dish inoculated with fresh \u003cem\u003eOphiocordyceps sphecocephala\u003c\/em\u003e mycelium growing on malt extract agar (MEA), and will arrive actively colonizing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eLab Notes\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eOphiocordyceps sphecocephala\u003c\/em\u003e mycelium appears white on culture media, forming moderate to dense radial colonies that grow notably slower than \u003cem\u003eCordyceps militaris\u003c\/em\u003e. Growth typically colonizes a 100mm plate in approximately 14–28 days at an optimal temperature of 68–73°F. This species has a strong dependence on organic nitrogen — use media containing yeast extract, peptone, or insect-based components to achieve reliable growth, as low-nitrogen media produce significantly reduced mycelial yield.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eCulture Use\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMushroom plate cultures on MEA plates are used to grow and preserve mycelium. Sterile transfers of agar wedges from this plate are used to inoculate fresh culture media or sterilized grain spawn.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eStorage\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStore fully colonized plates at 35–43°F in darkness, sealed with moderate humidity. Plan to transfer every 2–3 months, or sooner if edge growth slows or sectors appear. Plates can also be wrapped in parafilm and stored at room temperature in a sealed bag for up to 6 months.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eMade to Order\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll culture plates are made to order. Once your order is received, Out-Grow will inoculate your plate within 1–3 days and incubate it in our mycology lab for approximately 7–14 days, or until clean healthy mycelium has been verified by our mycologist.
