Scarlet Caterpillar Club (Cordyceps Militaris)
The Scarlet Caterpillar Club, also known as Cordyceps militaris, is a parasitic fungus that infects and kills insects, specifically caterpillars. The fungus grows inside the caterpillar's body, eventually killing it and producing a long stalk-like structure that emerges from the caterpillar's head. The stalk is topped with a bright red capsule containing spores, which are dispersed by the wind to infect new caterpillars. This fungus is highly prized in traditional Chinese medicine for its medicinal properties, and is also used in traditional Chinese cuisine.
