Grow your own edible and medicinal zhu ling mushrooms with liquid culture
Polyporus umbellatus, also known as zhu ling or umbrella polypore, is native to
Europe, North America and Asia, primarily China, Japan and Korea. It has been
used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries for treating edemas and
removing dampness from the body. Studies have shown that it there are many
medicinal benefits to consuming this mushroom. For that reason, cultivation of
this mushroom is becoming more and more common.

Zhu ling grows on the roots of old beeches or oak. It grows in clusters,
sometimes several hundred at a time. It has light brown caps growing to 1-4 cm
in diameter. Altogether, the cluster can grow up to 50 cm in diameter. The stems
are whitish grey, growing from a from a sclerotium that is black or brown and
close to the surface of the soil. It has white flesh that is edible and deliciously
sweet when young, however grows to be tough and acrid with age. It can be
grown using a mixture of supplemented hardwood sawdust such as birch, maple,
beech or oak. It can also be grown indoors using a mycelium bag.

The liquid culture syringes are between 10 and 12cc. Ready to inject to your substrate of choice. Normally this will be sterilized rye berries.
