The red reishi is a polypore mushroom, growing on dead trees and stumps of
hardwoods such as oak, elm, beech, maples etc. Growing in a fan like shape
with a reddish color, it is a beautiful looking mushroom. It gets tougher as it ages
and is typically consumed by making a tea or tincture. It can be grown on a
mixture of supplemented hardwood sawdust or by using a stump plug if it is to be
grown outdoors. Indoors, a large autoclavable bag can be used.
