Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit (Lentinula edodes) Mycelium Liquid Culture Syringe

Detailed Description:

Introducing our 12cc Shiitake WW (Warm Weather) 55-85 Fahrenheit (Lentinula edodes) Mycelium Liquid Culture Syringe, a superb choice for those seeking to cultivate shiitake mushrooms in warmer climates. This strain is specifically adapted to thrive in temperatures ranging from 55-85°F (13-29°C), making it a versatile option for growers in various regions and conditions.

The Shiitake WW strain stands out for its slightly faster spawn run compared to other shiitake variants, offering an efficient cultivation process. It produces medium to large-sized mushrooms, with the size influenced by the substrate and environmental conditions. These mushrooms are not only substantial in size but also carry the distinctive shiitake flavor, a favorite in culinary circles for its rich, umami taste.

Our liquid culture syringe is filled with high-quality, viable mycelium, ready to inoculate your chosen substrate. Shiitake mushrooms typically prefer hardwood substrates, such as oak or beech, but can also adapt to other wood-based materials, providing flexibility in your cultivation approach.

For optimal preservation and performance, store the culture syringe in a cool, dark place until ready for use. The Shiitake WW strain is a fantastic choice for both amateur and professional growers looking to explore shiitake cultivation in warmer temperatures.

Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit (Lentinula edodes) Overview:

Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit (Lentinula edodes) is a warm weather strain of Shiitake mushroom, optimized for growth in temperatures ranging from 55 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (13 to 29 degrees Celsius). This strain's adaptation to warmer temperatures makes it particularly suitable for cultivation in climates that experience such temperature ranges, especially during the warmer months of the year.

Characteristics of Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit

Temperature Preference: As a warm weather strain, it thrives in a relatively high temperature range. This is a key consideration for growers, as maintaining this temperature range is essential for optimal growth.

Growth Rate:

  1. Faster Spawn Run: One of the notable features of this strain is its slightly faster spawn run compared to other Shiitake strains. A faster spawn run means that the mycelium colonizes the substrate more quickly, leading to a shorter time from inoculation to fruiting.
  2. Fruit Body Attributes:
  3. Size: The mushrooms produced are medium to large in size, which is influenced by factors such as the type of substrate used and the specific environmental conditions.
  4. Appearance: While specific details about the cap color or texture are not provided, it likely follows the general characteristics of Shiitake mushrooms, which typically have umbrella-shaped caps with a broad surface.

Cultivation Considerations

  1. Substrate Compatibility: While Shiitake mushrooms generally prefer hardwood substrates, the yield and size of the fruiting bodies can vary depending on the substrate's composition and quality.
  2. Environmental Control: For cultivators, especially those in controlled environments like greenhouses, maintaining the temperature within the 55-85°F range is crucial for the success of this strain.
  3. Humidity and Ventilation: Proper humidity levels and adequate air circulation are also important factors in successfully growing Shiitake mushrooms.

Advantages of This Strain

  1. Suitability for Warm Climates: This strain is ideal for regions with warmer climates or for seasonal cultivation in areas where temperatures rise within this range.
  2. Efficiency: The faster colonization of the substrate can lead to quicker production cycles, which is beneficial for commercial growers aiming for efficiency and higher turnover.

Nutritional and Medicinal Benefits

  1. Nutrition: Shiitake mushrooms are known for their nutritional value, providing vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.
  2. Health Benefits: They are also recognized for their potential health-promoting properties, including immune system support and cholesterol-lowering effects.

Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit (Lentinula edodes) Taxonomy:

  1. Kingdom: Fungi
  2. Phylum: Basidiomycota
  3. Class: Agaricomycetes
  4. Order: Agaricales
  5. Family: Marasmiaceae
  6. Genus: Lentinula
  7. Species: Lentinula edodes

In summary, Shiitake WW 55-85 Fahrenheit is a warm weather strain of Lentinula edodes, characterized by its preference for warmer temperatures and a faster spawn run. This makes it an attractive option for mushroom cultivation in warmer climates or seasons, offering the possibility of quicker harvest cycles and the well-known culinary and nutritional benefits of Shiitake mushrooms.

Quality Culture Syringe

The culture was received and appears to be excellent quality, it is my first time ordering with the company and I was a little nervous as I've had some bad experiences elsewhere. Outgrow's syringe is filled to the brim with mycelium and based on the careful packaging and even labelling the date of the culture, they clearly care about quality. I also had been in email contact with Outgrow and they did a phenomenal job easing concerns and explaining any questions I had.

LC is quickly colonizing my rye berry and grain spawn bags. Planning on buying a few bags of the outgrow hardwood substrate soon to mix up with the fully colonized rye berry and grain spawn bags. I will then put in small foil trays, and cover with foil. This will allow the hardwood substrate to become completely colonized and will give me nice colonized cakes. After removing the colonized cakes from foil trays they will be ready to be placed in a fruiting chamber. So far so good!
