White Enoki Mushroom Plate Culture

White Enoki Mushroom (Flammulina velutipes) Mushroom Plate Culture.

Each culture plate is a 100x15mm petri dish inoculated with fresh White Enoki Mushroom (Flammulina velutipes) mycelium growing on malt extract agar (MEA), and will arrive actively colonizing.

White Enoki Mushroom Plate Culture Lab Notes

At Out-Grow's mycology lab, we have observed the following traits of this mushroom plate culture:

White Enoki (Flammulina velutipes) mycelium grows at approximately 11mm per day on standard agar under typical lab conditions — degenerate strains grow significantly slower at around 6mm per day and produce abnormally compact mycelial mats, making growth rate and colony morphology on agar a useful diagnostic for culture quality. Healthy wild-type dikaryotic cultures grow more rapidly and less compactly than degenerate strains. Routine plate-level comparison of working strains against a reference culture is a good quality control measure, as degenerate cultures are associated with poor crop performance. Incubation is typical for enoki in the low to mid-70s °F.

Mushroom Plate Culture Use

Mushroom plate cultures, typically on MEA culture plates, are used to grow and preserve mycelium. In most cases, sterile transfers of agar wedges from this plate are used to inoculate fresh culture media or sterilized grain spawn.

Mushroom Plate Culture Storage

Your mushroom plate culture can be wrapped in parafilm and stored at normal room temps, in a sealed baggie, for up to 6 months. Out-Grow recommends you replate your mushroom plate culture every 6 months to ensure longevity of your purchase.

Transfer your White Enoki mycelium to fresh MEA every 2–3 months to keep your culture healthy and vigorous.

Mushroom Plate Cultures Are Made to Order

All mushroom culture plates are made to order. Once your order is received, Out-Grow will inoculate your plate within 1-3 days. Your mushroom plate culture will then be incubated in our mycology lab for approximately 7-14 days, or until clean healthy mycelium has been verified by our mycologist. Once verified, your order will be shipped promptly. Please allow an additional week for your mushroom plate culture to fully colonize upon arrival, as colonization time varies by species.
