Reishi Liquid Culture 5 Pack — Pack Overview
The Reishi Mushroom Cultures 5 Pack brings together five distinct Ganoderma species in a single collection. Most vendors sell one reishi and call it done. We have been building our Ganoderma collection for over a decade and currently hold more distinct Ganoderma species than any vendor we are aware of. The five in this pack span classic TCM species, North American forest species, and lesser-known varieties that most cultivators have never had access to as liquid culture.
Reishi Liquid Culture 5 Pack — Included Species
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) Liquid Culture
The classic TCM Reishi, the shiny red-brown lacquered bracket used in Chinese medicine for over two thousand years. Ganoderma lucidum contains triterpenoids and beta-glucans that are the most studied compounds in the Ganoderma genus. It colonizes supplemented hardwood substrate reliably and fruits well on supplemented sawdust bags or hardwood logs with adequate humidity. The patience required is the main thing that separates reishi cultivation from oyster or shiitake production.
Reishi — Out-Grow Lab Notes
| Parameter | Out-Grow Notes |
| Culture medium | LME + dextrose, 2% + 2% in distilled water |
| Fruiting temp | 70 to 80°F |
| Substrate | Supplemented hardwood sawdust; hardwood logs |
| Timeline | Months from inoculation to harvest — patience is the key variable |
| Inoculation rate | 2 to 3cc per quart of sterilized grain or hardwood substrate |
| Storage life | 6 or more months at normal room temperature |
Reishi Taxonomy
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Polyporales
- Family: Ganodermataceae
- Genus: Ganoderma
- Species: Ganoderma lucidum
Hemlock Reishi (Ganoderma tsugae) Liquid Culture
The North American counterpart to lucidum, growing naturally on hemlock and other conifers in eastern North America. Visually similar to G. lucidum but with a different substrate ecology and compound profile. It colonizes conifer-based substrates particularly well, and cultivators who want a North American wild-type Ganoderma for research or comparison will find it performs differently from the classic TCM species in meaningful ways.
Hemlock Reishi — Out-Grow Lab Notes
| Parameter | Out-Grow Notes |
| Culture medium | LME + dextrose, 2% + 2% in distilled water |
| Fruiting temp | 65 to 78°F |
| Substrate | Performs well on conifer-based substrates; also grows on hardwood |
| Species note | North American wild-type — distinct from G. lucidum by ecology and compound profile |
| Inoculation rate | 2 to 3cc per quart of sterilized grain or hardwood substrate |
| Storage life | 6 or more months at normal room temperature |
Hemlock Reishi Taxonomy
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Polyporales
- Family: Ganodermataceae
- Genus: Ganoderma
- Species: Ganoderma tsugae
Yellow Reishi (Ganoderma curtisii) Liquid Culture
A golden-yellow lacquered Ganoderma native to the southeastern United States that grows on the base of hardwood trees, particularly oak and tulip tree. The yellow coloration is distinct from all other species in this pack and comes from different pigment compounds than the standard lucidum. It is less studied than lucidum but has growing research presence in the functional mushroom literature and is genuinely uncommon as a liquid culture outside of specialty vendors.
Yellow Reishi — Out-Grow Lab Notes
| Parameter | Out-Grow Notes |
| Culture medium | LME + dextrose, 2% + 2% in distilled water |
| Fruiting temp | 70 to 80°F |
| Visual character | Golden-yellow lacquered cap — distinct from all other Ganoderma in this pack |
| Inoculation rate | 2 to 3cc per quart of sterilized grain or hardwood substrate |
| Storage life | 6 or more months at normal room temperature |
Yellow Reishi Taxonomy
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Polyporales
- Family: Ganodermataceae
- Genus: Ganoderma
- Species: Ganoderma curtisii
Red Reishi (Ganoderma resinaceum) Liquid Culture
Ganoderma resinaceum produces a large bracket with a distinctly reddish-brown coloring and a resinous surface texture that sets it apart from G. lucidum. It is found throughout temperate hardwood forests in Europe and North America and has attracted research interest for its triterpenoid profile, which differs from the classic lucidum profile in ways that matter for researchers studying the full compound range of the genus.
Red Reishi — Out-Grow Lab Notes
| Parameter | Out-Grow Notes |
| Culture medium | LME + dextrose, 2% + 2% in distilled water |
| Fruiting temp | 68 to 80°F |
| Surface texture | Resinous — distinctive tactile and visual character |
| Compound note | Triterpenoid profile differs meaningfully from G. lucidum |
| Inoculation rate | 2 to 3cc per quart of sterilized grain or hardwood substrate |
| Storage life | 6 or more months at normal room temperature |
Red Reishi Taxonomy
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Polyporales
- Family: Ganodermataceae
- Genus: Ganoderma
- Species: Ganoderma resinaceum
Swollen Bracket (Ganoderma gibbosum) Liquid Culture
Ganoderma gibbosum is the least commonly cultivated species in this pack and one that most cultivators have not had access to as liquid culture before. It produces large bracket fruiting bodies with a characteristic swollen or humped upper surface, growing on hardwood in subtropical and tropical regions. We carry it because our Ganoderma collection is built around completeness. This is the piece of the genus that almost no other vendor stocks, and it rounds out a genuinely comprehensive Ganoderma liquid culture collection.
Swollen Bracket — Out-Grow Lab Notes
| Parameter | Out-Grow Notes |
| Culture medium | LME + dextrose, 2% + 2% in distilled water |
| Fruiting temp | 72 to 82°F — subtropical species; warmer than lucidum |
| Morphology | Characteristic swollen humped upper surface — distinct from other Ganoderma in pack |
| Rarity | Rarely available as liquid culture outside specialty vendors |
| Inoculation rate | 2 to 3cc per quart of sterilized grain or hardwood substrate |
| Storage life | 6 or more months at normal room temperature |
Swollen Bracket Taxonomy
- Kingdom: Fungi
- Division: Basidiomycota
- Class: Agaricomycetes
- Order: Polyporales
- Family: Ganodermataceae
- Genus: Ganoderma
- Species: Ganoderma gibbosum
Reishi Liquid Culture 5 Pack — Cultivation Overview
All five Ganoderma species in this pack colonize supplemented hardwood sawdust and perform well on hardwood logs. Fruiting bodies develop slowly compared to oyster or shiitake, reishi cultivation is measured in months rather than weeks. High humidity and fresh air exchange during the antler stage are the critical environmental variables. All syringes ship from our McConnell, Illinois lab ready to inoculate.
